Baseball Recap: Roy Comes Up Short

Roy extended their losing streak to six on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 7-8 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Box Elder Bees. The Royals were not able to make up for their loss to the Bees from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Parker Skidmore was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

As for Box Elder, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 4-10. The win was some much needed relief for they as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

On Box Elder's side, the team relied heavily on Korbin Jeppesen, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave Jeppesen a new career-high. Bryson Wight was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Roy has already played their next game, an 8-7 defeat against Northridge on the 21st. As for Box Elder, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 17-7 loss against Woods Cross on the 21st.
