Recap: Hurricane Tigers vs. Dixie Flyers
The Hurricane Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 51-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Dixie. Hurricane has struggled against Dixie recently, as their contest on Thursday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Hurricane lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Abbigail Stout, who scored 11 points. Laynee Walker was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dixie to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kealah Faumuina, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. That makes it 13 consecutive games in which Faumuina has scored at least 25% of Dixie's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brinlee Bennett, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Hurricane's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Dixie, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hurricane will take on Desert Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Desert Hills is ranked 64th, while Hurricane is ranked 55th). As for Dixie, they will be playing at home against Pine View at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
