Softball Game Preview: Tonopah Valley Phoenix vs. Highland Prep Honey Badgers

The Tonopah Valley Phoenix will challenge the Highland Prep Honey Badgers at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Tonopah Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season.

Tonopah Valley made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Glendale Prep Academy, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Tonopah Valley blew past Glendale Prep Academy 20-6 on Saturday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 9, 2017, but that streak is no more.

Tonopah Valley got a massive performance out of Ellie Procunier, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave Procunier a new career-high. Mackenzie Eaton was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-4.

Tonopah Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Glendale Prep Academy only posted a batting average of .263.

Meanwhile, Highland Prep lost 14-1 to ALA - West Foothills on Tuesday. The contest marked the Honey Badgers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Highland Prep and nudges their season record down to 3-3. As for Tonopah Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Tonopah Valley has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Highland Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
