It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the North Providence Cougars had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They took down Davies Career & Tech 34-18. The victory was familiar territory for North Providence who now have four in a row.
Davies Career & Tech's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Daniel Rose, who rushed for 135 yards and a touchdown, and Ziahair Gibau who rushed for 70 yards and a touchdown. Rose is absolutely dominating the rushing yard category: he's posted at least 100 every time he's taken the field this season.
North Providence's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Davies Career & Tech, their loss dropped their record down to 9-1.
North Providence will be playing in front of their home fans against Smithfield at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Rhode Island (Smithfield is ranked 41st, while North Providence is ranked 32nd). As for Davies Career & Tech, they will head out on the road to face off against North Smithfield/Mount St. Charles Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
