Baseball Game Preview: Baptist Prep Eagles vs. Perryville Mustangs

The Baptist Prep Eagles will face off against the Perryville Mustangs at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Last Friday, Baptist Prep came up short against Quitman and fell 15-10.

Nolan Boyette and Nick Boyette stepped up to the plate in a big way. Nolan scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Nick scored two runs while going 2-for-5. The dominant performance also gave Nick a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Aaron Fielder, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Baptist Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Perryville made easy work of Bigelow on Thursday and carried off a 16-3 win. That 13 run margin sets a new team best for the Mustangs this season.

Baptist Prep's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-2. As for Perryville, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Baptist Prep suffered a grim 13-6 defeat to Perryville when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Baptist Prep avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
