Baseball Recap: Mcclave Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Win

It's playoff time, and McClave had no trouble coming through when it counted. Everything went their way against the Wiley Panthers on Saturday as they made off with an 11-1 win. Considering the Cardinals have won 11 matchups by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Tim Pacino looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Cope Meston and Ryan Steinbrunn did most of the damage at the plate: Meston went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Steinbrunn got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Drew Howe was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

The victory was the eighth in a row for McClave, bringing their record up to 19-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Wiley, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-10-1.

McClave has already played their next contest, an 18-10 victory against Stratton on the 2nd. As for Wiley, they will challenge Merino on Saturday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season.
