Basketball Game Preview: Oregon Panthers vs. Monona Grove Silver Eagles + Official Tickets

The Oregon Panthers will take on the Monona Grove Silver Eagles in a holiday battle at 4:05 p.m. on Saturday. Oregon has given up an average of 54.4 points per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Oregon is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Edgewood on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Panthers came up short against the Crusaders, falling 63-41. The matchup marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Teagan Schoenecker put forth a good effort for the losing side as she went 6-for-10 en route to 18 points along with seven boards and three steals. That was a full 43.9% of Oregon's points, marking the fourth time in a row Schoenecker has posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Niasia Niedziejko, who scored five points.

Meanwhile, Monona Grove put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 65-59 W against Milton.

Monona Grove's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Oregon, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-3.

Oregon was able to grind out a solid victory over Monona Grove in their previous meeting back in January, winning 65-52. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Silver Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
