Softball Game Preview: Point Pleasant Big Blacks vs. Winfield Generals

The Point Pleasant Big Blacks will head out on the road to take on the Winfield Generals at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Point Pleasant fell victim to Chapmanville Regional and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 1-0.

Rylann Macknight spent all 8.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, Winfield faced Hoover in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Generals never let the Huskies get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Generals in their matchups with the Huskies: they've now won three in a row.

Point Pleasant has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season. As for Winfield, their victory bumped their record up to 14-4.

Point Pleasant came up short against Winfield when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 3-0. Can the Big Blacks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
