Basketball Recap: Elkhorn South's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak on the Road

After losing to Benson the last time they met, Elkhorn South decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Elkhorn South Storm walked away with a 73-66 win over the Benson Bunnies on Tuesday.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Elkhorn South to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lincoln Schwarz, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Schwarz a new career-high in assists (six). Another player making a difference was Cooper Mroczek, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards.

Elkhorn South smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in five consecutive games.

When it comes to explaining why Benson lost, don't look at Goanar Bamach. Despite the final result, he went 7 for 9 on his way to 20 points along with eight rebounds and five blocks. The match was Bamach's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Adryn Hollins, who posted 14 points and three steals.

Elkhorn South's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-9. As for Benson, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. It'll be Northside v. Southside when Elkhorn South and Omaha North meet at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Benson, they will face off against Omaha South at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Benson is facing Omaha South at the right time seeing as Omaha South is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
