Volleyball Recap: Scotus Takes a Loss

Scotus was the 2-0 winner over Platteview when they last played one another back in September of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Shamrocks fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. While the Shamrocks didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Trojans 25-13 in the first set.

Scotus started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 13-25, 25-21, 25-12.

Grace Hamling paced Scotus' offense, picking up 12 kills. Hamling got some help from Bella Hutchinson and her 23 assists. Finally, Lola Doerneman kept Scotus' defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Scotus' loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Platteview, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.

Scotus will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Aquinas at 7:00 p.m. on the 16th. As for Platteview, they have already played their next game, a 3-1 win against Wahoo on the 9th.
