Basketball Recap: Oakland Christian Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Oakland Christian lost to Almont back in February of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Oakland Christian Lancers came out on top against the Almont Raiders by a score of 37-25. Given the Lancers' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 286th, while the Raiders are ranked 576th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Oakland Christian has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.0 points on average over those games. Almont is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-19.

Oakland Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Almont, they will take on North Branch at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. North Branch has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
