Basketball Game Preview: Johnson Warriors vs. West Campus Warriors

The Johnson Warriors will take on the West Campus Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Johnson is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

On Monday, Johnson was beaten by Vista del Lago 70-32. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 974th, while the Eagles are ranked 325th).

Meanwhile, West Campus posted their biggest victory since January 26, 2024 on Saturday. Everything went their way against Mira Loma as West Campus made off with a 73-49 win.

West Campus' win came from a few key players Johnson will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Edmund Michalski, who went 10 for 17 on his way to 22 points in addition to five assists and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiefer Wilbur, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards.

West Campus smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Johnson now has a losing record at 7-8. As for West Campus, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7.

Johnson came up short against West Campus in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 69-62. Can Johnson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
