Baseball Game Preview: Start Spartans vs. Bowsher BlueRacers

Start is 9-1 against Bowsher since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Spartans will host the BlueRacers at 5:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Start made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Lima Senior, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Start blew past Lima Senior 11-5 on Monday. The high-scoring effort was just what Start needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Braydin Roesner made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. Roesner was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Kolbe Roesner and Bryce Creecy did most of the damage at the plate: Kolbe scored three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Creecy scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Creecy is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games he's played dating back to last season. Joe Buck was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Start always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, while Bowsher put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Rogers. The BlueRacers were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Rams. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the BlueRacers considering their one-run performance the match before.

The win got Bowsher back to even at 1-1. As for Start, the victory also got them back to even at 1-1.
