Preview: Chicago Mathematics & Science vs. Northtown Pumas
Chicago Mathematics & Science will head out on the road to take on the Northtown Pumas at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Chicago Mathematics & Science focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Friday.
Last Friday, Chicago Mathematics & Science didn't have too much trouble with Alcott/DeVry Advantage Academy at home as they won 67-53.
It was another big night for Marcus Hughes-Bey, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Joune Woods, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Northtown's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Maine South 76-30. While losing is never fun, Northtown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 700th, while Maine South is ranked 228th).
Chicago Mathematics & Science has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. As for Northtown, they bumped their record down to 2-8 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Chicago Mathematics & Science took a serious blow against Northtown in their previous meeting back in January of 2018, falling 82-45. Can Chicago Mathematics & Science avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
