Basketball Recap: Payton Futch's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lakeside over Sheridan

Lakeside was the 49-36 winner over Sheridan when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Lakeside Rams took a 55-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sheridan Yellowjackets.

Lakeside's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Payton Futch, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 12 boards. The contest was Futch's 13th in a row with at least 15 points. Mckenzie Williams was another key player, putting up 11 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

Lakeside's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 13-1 and their overall record down to 18-8. As for Sheridan, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-9.

Lakeside has already played their next match, a 63-21 loss against Pulaski Academy on the 21st. Sheridan has also already played their next game (against White Hall), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
