Softball Recap: Capital Cougars vs. Parkersburg Big Reds

Capital extended their losing streak to seven on Friday, dropping their season record down to 3-17 in the process. They lost 17-7 to the Parkersburg Big Reds. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Big Reds this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-0 back in March.

Kathryn Crowder stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Jadan Bishop was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

As for Parkersburg, their victory ended an 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-10. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Parkersburg's side, they got a massive performance out of Brynn Frye, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave Frye a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kendall Kimes, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Capital is set to square off against their familiar foe South Charleston at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Parkersburg will face off against rival George Washington at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
