Football Recap: Alexander Central Cougars vs. Statesville Greyhounds
Alexander Central couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a hard 36-21 fall against the Statesville Greyhounds on Friday. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Greyhounds apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2023.
Although Alexander Central took the loss, they still got scores from Wade Queen, Jamison Rowe, and Sawyer Chapman-Mays.
Allen Jones had a dynamite game for Statesville, rushing for 78 yards and two touchdowns.
Alexander Central will welcome Wilkes Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Alexander Central focused on turnovers this week as team gave up four on Friday. As for Statesville, they will face off against Lake Norman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
