Softball Game Preview: Crescent Valley Raiders vs. South Albany Redhawks

Crescent Valley is 2-8 against South Albany since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Raiders will host the Redhawks at 5:00 p.m. Crescent Valley has given up an average of 11.6 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Monday just wasn't the day for Crescent Valley's offense. They lost 11-0 to West Albany on Monday. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Raiders' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, South Albany came into Monday's game having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over South Salem on Monday. With that win, the Redhawks brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Alicia Martindale was a standout: she scored three runs while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Angel, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

South Albany always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They are 2-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Crescent Valley's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for South Albany, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 2-7.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Crescent Valley hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like South Albany struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.

Everything went Crescent Valley's way against South Albany in their previous matchup back in March, as Crescent Valley made off with a 21-6 win. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Redhawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
