Ashwaubenon is a perfect 9-0 against Sheboygan North since May of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Jaguars will head out to face off against the Golden Raiders at 9:00 a.m. Ashwaubenon's pitching crew has only allowed 0.9 runs per game this season, so Sheboygan North's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Ashwaubenon is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Green Bay Preble just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hornets. Considering the last time the Jaguars couldn't score was back in March, the team can't take the result too hard.
Ashwaubenon saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elly Kirst, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Sheboygan North can bid farewell to their nine-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They walked away with a 7-2 win over Howards Grove.
Haley Bergstrom spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits.
On the hitting side, Sheboygan North let Bella Wagner and Paige Oehldrich run wild. Wagner went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Oehldrich went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Oehldrich has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Ava Brashaw, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Ashwaubenon's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 9-2. As for Sheboygan North, their victory bumped their record up to 4-10.
Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Ashwaubenon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .315. However, it's not like Sheboygan North struggles in that department as they've averaged .375. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Ashwaubenon beat Sheboygan North 5-0 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Jaguars repeat their success, or do the Golden Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
