Football Game Preview: Gulf Shores Dolphins vs. Russell County Warriors + Official Tickets

The Gulf Shores Dolphins will take on the Russell County Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Gulf Shores is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 45-0 victory over Murphy. The Dolphins haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Gulf Shores found their leader in freshman Major Hudspeth, who threw for 290 yards and six touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes. Nick Hampton was Hudspeth's top target, picking up 86 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Gulf Shores proved: they limited Murphy to a paltry -0.8 yards per carry. While eight picked up at least one total tackle, Carter Davis stood above the rest. He picked up 83 receiving yards and two scores. Gulf Shores' ground attack was stronger, having averaged 5.4.

Gulf Shores' defense didn't let Bo Carson, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for five sacks. Gabriel Ervin refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Russell County on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Beauregard out of the water with a 36-8 final score. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won six matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.

Gulf Shores better keep an eye on Bryson Riggins. He was instrumental in Russell County's win, rushing for 70 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only six carries, while also throwing for 110 yards and two TDs. The dominant performance also gave Riggins a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two). Chris Lucas was another key player, rushing for 73 yards and one score on only eight carries.

Russell County's victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Gulf Shores, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
