Soccer Game Preview: Wayland-Cohocton vs. Dansville

The Wayland-Cohocton Eagles will head out to challenge the Dansville Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Wayland-Cohocton is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Hornell just ended the team's three-match winning streak on Thursday. The two teams finished up on equal footing with a 1-1 draw. The result (or lack thereof) marked Wayland-Cohocton's first draw of the season.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Dansville's offense. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Livonia on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Dansville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York soccer rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while Livonia are ranked 57th).

Dansville's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. Wayland-Cohocton's draw gives them a new season record of 6-3-1.

Wayland-Cohocton took their victory against Dansville in their previous meeting two weeks ago by a conclusive 4-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
