Baseball Recap: Chester Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Academy Park, Chester was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They never let the Penn Wood Patriots get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. The Clippers haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Jacoby Roman made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. Those runs were his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mylan Sudler, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-1. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Kevin Logan was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.

Chester always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .708. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive games.

Chester's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Penn Wood, their defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chester will host Berks Catholic at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Penn Wood, they will be playing at home against Interboro at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
