Baseball Recap: Stewarts Creek Takes a Loss

Stewarts Creek and Oakland pushed the score to 12-9 the last time they played Oakland, but on Monday defenses reigned supreme. The Red Hawks fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 2-1. That's two games in a row now that the Red Hawks have lost by just one run.

Caleb Lawson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

This is the second loss in a row for Stewarts Creek and nudges their season record down to 13-10. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only one runs. As for Oakland, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-11-1 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stewarts Creek will take on LaVergne at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Red Hawks are facing the Wolverines at the right time seeing as the Wolverines are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Oakland, they will square off against Overton at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
