Baseball Recap: Corner Canyon Victorious

Corner Canyon won the last time they faced Herriman and things went their way on Friday too. The Chargers walked away with a 6-3 win over the Mustangs. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Chargers.

Andrew Nice made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Drew Whatcott, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Jack Munson was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.

Corner Canyon's victory bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Herriman, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season.

Corner Canyon will take on Bingham at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Miners' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Chargers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Herriman, they will face off against Riverton at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
