Softball Game Preview: Maryville Red Rebels vs. Halls Red Devils

Maryville is 1-6 against Halls since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Red Rebels are taking a road trip to take on the Red Devils at 6:30 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Maryville and Farragut meet (two straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Wednesday. The Red Rebels took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Admirals.

Maryville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Harper White, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Halls won against Knoxville Central on Friday with two runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. The Red Devils didn't even let Karns on the board, marking the Red Devils' second-straight 2-0 shutout. Winning may never get old, but the Red Devils sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Emery Bales made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 21 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Halls pushed their record up to 30-6-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Maryville, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-11.
