Basketball Game Preview: Commerce Tigers vs. City View Mustangs

The Commerce Tigers and the City View Mustangs will face off at 2:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Commerce's tournament run continued when they took on Aubrey on Thursday. Commerce managed a 65-61 victory over Aubrey. The win was all the more spectacular given the Tigers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 244th, while the Chaparrals are ranked 121st).

Meanwhile, City View posted their closest victory since December 9, 2023 on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Canton, sneaking past 57-54. The 57-point effort marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Commerce is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.9 points per game. As for City View, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
