Basketball Recap: Holly Grove Christian Comes Up Short

Holly Grove Christian played a tough matchup on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Greenwood Mennonite Flames, falling 59-33. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-11.

Despite the loss, Holly Grove Christian still got an impressive performance from Jackson Ellis, who posted eight points and 13 rebounds. Ellis is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of John Banks, who earned 11 points.

Even though they lost, Holly Grove Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Greenwood Mennonite was led to victory by Carter Long and Blake Mast. Long on his way to 17 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds, while Mast en route to 16 points. Mast continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Jude Harrison was another key player, putting up six points.

Holly Grove Christian's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Greenwood Mennonite, the win keeps them at an undefeated 20-0.

Holly Grove Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 53-45 defeat against Calvary Christian Academy on the 22nd. As for Greenwood Mennonite, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 49-47 victory against Chestertown Christian Academy on the 22nd.
