Baseball Recap: Bishop Feehan Extends Winning Streak to Four

Bishop Feehan came tearing into Wednesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Arlington Catholic Cougars. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 14-4 back in April.

Jack Gasse spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Andrew Shute, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases and two RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jake Webster, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Bishop Feehan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive contests.

Bishop Feehan's win bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Arlington Catholic, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-5.

Coincidentally, Bishop Feehan and Arlington Catholic will both be playing Cardinal Spellman the next time they take the field. The Cougars will head out to face the Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Shamrocks will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
