Basketball Recap: Big Sandy Takes a Loss

Big Sandy was the 55-50 winner over Sabine Pass when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Big Sandy Wildcats fell 49-41 to the Sabine Pass Sharks on Saturday.

Daiven Miller was a one-man wrecking crew for Sabine Pass as he dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten steals. Miller is becoming a predictor of Sabine Pass' success: when he posts at least three steals the team is 3-1 (and 9-11 when he doesn't). Ja'Lon Aiken was another key player, going 6 for 8 on his way to 15 points.

Big Sandy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season. As for Sabine Pass, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-12.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Evadale the next time they take the court. Sabine Pass will host Evadale at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Big Sandy will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
