After both having extra time off, the Plainview-Elgin-Millville Bulldogs and the Cotter Ramblers will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Last Tuesday, Plainview-Elgin-Millville didn't have quite enough to beat St. Charles and fell 3-2.
Plainview-Elgin-Millville actually scored more points across those five sets (90-89), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 25-15, 8-25, 16-25, 25-20, 15-5.
Cotter had won eight straight games and Sydney Repinski did her part to make it nine on Tuesday. The Ramblers were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over La Crescent for which the team can thank Repinski, who had 18 digs and two aces. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last three games she's played.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-10, 25-18, 25-15.
Plainview-Elgin-Millville has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-19 record this season. As for Cotter, their victory bumped their record up to 23-7.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's match: Plainview-Elgin-Millville has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 5.7 aces per game. However, it's not like Cotter struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.3 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
