Football Recap: MacArthur Takes a Loss

MacArthur was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a 51-7 loss at the hands of the Nimitz Cougars. The Generals were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-7.

Ryan Smith threw for 76 yards and one touchdown. Joshua Portillo was his top target, picking up 66 receiving yards and one score. On the ground, Trinidad Espinoza rushed for 62 yards.

MacArthur's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Nimitz, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

Coming up, MacArthur will be playing in front of their home fans against Eisenhower at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Nimitz, they will head out on the road to square off against Aldine at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. The Cougars will be up against the Mustangs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 51 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
