Softball Recap: Citrus Gets the Win

Citrus posted their closest victory since February 25th on Wednesday. They skirted past the Belleview Rattlers 8-6. The game snapped a strange streak: the last five times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Paisley Williamson made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). Williamson was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.

In other batting news, Baylie Goodwin was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Briahna Greaux was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

Citrus now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Belleview, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-8.

Looking ahead, Citrus will be playing at home against Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bears have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.5 runs per game on average), something the Hurricanes will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Belleview, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, an 8-2 win against P.K. Yonge on the 4th.
