Preview: Olentangy Orange Pioneers vs. Grove City Greyhounds
The Olentangy Orange Pioneers will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Grove City Greyhounds at 5:00 p.m. Olentangy Orange will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
Last Tuesday, Olentangy Orange faced Hilliard Bradley in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Olentangy Orange skirted past Hilliard Bradley 52-50. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Olentangy Orange has posted yet this season.
Even though Grove City has not done well against Lincoln recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Grove City sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 66-64 victory over Lincoln. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Kraig Gilbert continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 25 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kyland Meldon, who scored 11 points.
Olentangy Orange's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.1 points per game. As for Grove City, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.
Olentangy Orange beat Grove City 64-54 when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Does Olentangy Orange have another victory up their sleeve, or will Grove City turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
