Martin had won seven straight on the road, but on Friday they bumped up to 20-16 to make it eight. They blew past South Grand Prairie 3-0. This was a revenge game for Martin: when they faced off against South Grand Prairie back in September, they had to take a 3-2 defeat.

Martin's offense was headlined by Emily Weaver and Simone Bivens, who picked up six kills apiece. They got some help from Kaitlyn Bush and her 12 assists. Olivia Foley and Haley Patria kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with three aces apiece.

As for South Grand Prairie, the loss snapped their winning streak at eight matches and leaves them with a 21-10 record. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat they have suffered since September 16th.

Despite the loss, South Grand Prairie saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ryleigh Goss had 12 kills and 12 digs. Goss has been hot recently, having posted 12 or more kills the last four times she's played. Raegen Richardson was another key player, getting 16 assists and eight digs.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Martin is set to square off against their familiar foe Sam Houston at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, South Grand Prairie will challenge rival Haltom at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
