Baseball Game Preview: Douglass Bulldogs vs. Halstead Dragons

The Douglass Bulldogs will face off against the Halstead Dragons at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Neither Douglass nor Halstead posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Douglass is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Hesston just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Friday. They came up short against the Swathers, falling 16-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Bulldogs have suffered since March 31st.

Meanwhile, Halstead was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Larned.

Halstead saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zach Gavlak, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Douglass' loss dropped their record down to 8-4-1. As for Halstead, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-14.

Douglass was able to grind out a solid victory over Halstead when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 9-6. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Dragons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
