Baseball Game Preview: Northwest Cabarrus Trojans vs. South Rowan Raiders

The Northwest Cabarrus Trojans will challenge the South Rowan Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Northwest Cabarrus has given up an average of 9.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Northwest Cabarrus fell victim to Cox Mill and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 11-0 to the Chargers. The Trojans just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Northwest Cabarrus got a good showing from Connor Landers, who tossed 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.

On the hitting side, Northwest Cabarrus saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was James Cameron Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Johnson snagged this season.

South Rowan not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 7, 2024. They put the hurt on Concord with a sharp 15-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Raiders.

Northwest Cabarrus' loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for South Rowan, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Northwest Cabarrus came up short against South Rowan in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 6-1. Can Northwest Cabarrus avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
