Basketball Game Preview: Resurrection Catholic Eagles vs. Sacred Heart Crusaders

The Resurrection Catholic Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Sacred Heart Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Resurrection Catholic is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52 points per game this season.

Resurrection Catholic is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering D'Iberville just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Saturday. They were beaten by the Warriors 70-40. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 174th, while the Warriors are ranked 23rd).

Resurrection Catholic might have lost, but man, Tyrese Ricardo was a machine: he dropped a double-double on 30 points and 12 rebounds. Ricardo's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Simeon Ballard, who posted five points in addition to 13 boards and four blocks.

Meanwhile, Sacred Heart hadn't done well against Vancleave recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Sacred Heart put the hurt on Vancleave with a sharp 76-52 win. The Crusaders' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Sacred Heart and bumps their season record up to 2-3. As for Resurrection Catholic, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

Resurrection Catholic beat Sacred Heart 38-31 in their previous meeting back in February. Will Resurrection Catholic repeat their success, or does Sacred Heart have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
