Basketball Game Preview: Lake Mary Prep Griffins vs. Altamonte Christian Eagles

The Lake Mary Prep Griffins will challenge the Altamonte Christian Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Friday, Lake Mary Prep made easy work of Circle Christian and carried off a 71-50 victory.

Meanwhile, Altamonte Christian unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Lecanto by a score of 61-59. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 300th, while the Panthers are ranked 105th).

The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Ryan Almeda and JT Tipton. Tipton had a great game and posted 24 points and three steals. Meanwhile, Almeda did his best for the losing side, going 5 of 10 on his way to 14 points.

Lake Mary Prep's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-6. As for Altamonte Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11.

Lake Mary Prep took a serious blow against Altamonte Christian in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 76-30. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Lake Mary Prep was down 44-20.
