Baseball Recap: Paramount Comes Up Short

Mayfair hit Paramount with a four-run fifth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Pirates took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Monsoons. The Pirates were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Monsoons earlier this season, when they won 5-4.

Paramount saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luis Banuelos, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Paramount's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 15-11. As for Mayfair, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season.

Paramount will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Lynwood at 3:15 p.m. The Knights have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.58 runs per game on average), something the Pirates will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Mayfair, they will square off against Dominguez at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Monsoons are facing the Dons at the right time seeing as the Dons are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
