Softball Recap: Bluffton Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Bluffton came out on top against Riverdale on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run first inning. The Pirates walked away with a 9-4 win over the Falcons. Winning may never get old, but the Pirates sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

HAELEE RAYLE made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. RAYLE was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on PEYTON WORCESTER, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was ELANA NAVARRO, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Bluffton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in six consecutive contests.

Bluffton's victory bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Riverdale, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bluffton will take on Ridgemont at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Pirates' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Golden Gophers have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season. As for Riverdale, they will challenge Elmwood at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
