Baseball Recap: Laguna Hills Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Laguna Hills, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They walked away with a 3-0 victory over the Costa Mesa Mustangs on Wednesday. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

The result came thanks to Nic Park's shutout, as he gave up just three hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Laguna Hills is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-8 otherwise.

At the plate, Laguna Hills saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nate Medina, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Damian Youngman was another, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Laguna Hills' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-8. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Costa Mesa, this is the second loss in a row for them and also nudges their season record down to 13-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Laguna Hills will welcome Laguna Beach at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Costa Mesa, they will face off against Covina at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Mustangs 2.9, the Colts 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
