Atholton is 0-10 against Marriotts Ridge since April of 2018 but things could change on Wednesday. The Raiders are taking a road trip to square off against Marriotts Ridge at 4:00 p.m. Atholton will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
Last Thursday, Atholton made easy work of Wilde Lake and carried off a 19-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Wildecats: they've now won four in a row.
Madison Rickets made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Reagan Law and Tatiana Maltez-Rosales did most of the damage at the plate: Law got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Maltez-Rosales went 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave Maltez-Rosales a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Adara Baldini, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
Atholton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .550. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Marriotts Ridge's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of Mt. Hebron by a score of 11-9.
Biff Lorah was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Ella Groff was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Marriotts Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Atholton, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 4-8-1.
Marriotts Ridge's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Atholton has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11 hits per game. It's a different story for Marriotts Ridge, though, as they've been averaging 9.1 hits. Given Atholton's sizable advantage in that area, Marriotts Ridge will need to find a way to close that gap.
Atholton might still be hurting after the 12-6 defeat they got from Marriotts Ridge in their previous meeting last Tuesday. Can the Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
