Baseball Recap: Ballard Takes a Loss

Ballard was the 4-2 winner over Eastside Catholic when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Beavers fell just short of the Crusaders by a score of 8-7 on Monday. That's two games in a row now that the Beavers have lost by just one run.

Truitt Madonna was cooking despite his team's loss, firing off two home runs and three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Wes Manger, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Ballard has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-3 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for Eastside Catholic, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.

While Ballard had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
