Even though Flowers scored an imposing 64 points on Tuesday, Wise still came out on top. Wise sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 67-64 victory over the Jaguars.
Rasan Golatt continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 18 points along with seven steals. Alexis Obase was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, even though Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South scored an imposing 56 points on Thursday, Douglass still came out on top. Douglass took their match against the 67-56. Given Douglass' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while the are ranked 214th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Solomon Lewis had a dynamite game for Douglass, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kwari Harvey, who scored 11 points along with five assists.
Wise is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. As for Douglass, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-6.
Saturday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Wise have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 44% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Douglass struggles in that department as they've made 48.3% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Wise beat the Eagles 72-60 when the teams last played back in December of 2022. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Douglass' Albert Mouring, who scored 17 points. Now that he won't be playing on Saturday, will it be that much easier for Wise to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
