Baseball Recap: South River Snags Sixth Win in Last Eight Games

South River won against Annapolis on Wednesday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Seahawks' pitcher stepped up to hand the Severn Run Wolves an 8-0 shutout. Considering the Seahawks have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Severn Run's batters probably weren't too happy with Parker Box, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 11 Ks (he gave up zero walks). Box has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Chase Lutterbie, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Justin Bickel, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

South River is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Severn Run, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Coming up, South River will head out to face off against Westminster at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Severn Run does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
