Volleyball Recap: Coral Gables Takes a Loss

Coral Gables and Miami squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Coral Gables had to settle for second. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Stingarees. The Cavaliers haven't had much luck with the Stingarees recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Nico Delgado-Gonzalez paced Coral Gables' offense, picking up 17 kills. Delgado-Gonzalez got some help from Mariano Beytia and his 17 assists. Finally, Erik Sarman kept Coral Gables' defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Coral Gables' defeat dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Miami, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.

Coral Gables does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Miami, they will challenge Columbus at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Explorers will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something the Stingarees surely won't give up without a fight.
