The George Washington Patriots will head out to challenge the Hurricane Redskins at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. George Washington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
George Washington managed to slip by Riverside the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Patriots came up short against the Warriors on Tuesday, falling 12-4.
Natali Tomblin made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Hurricane got themselves on the board against St. Albans on Tuesday, but St. Albans never followed suit. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Red Dragons, sneaking past 2-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Redskins.
Not much got past Kate Justice, who gave up just six hits and racked up nine Ks to keep St. Albans off the board. Justice has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 18 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Hurricane's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kylie Bailey, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
George Washington's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Hurricane, their victory bumped their record up to 17-2.
George Washington's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's match. The Patriots have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Hurricane, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will George Washington continue to outrun the ball?
George Washington couldn't quite get it done against Hurricane in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 9-4. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
