The Lincoln Southeast Knights will square off against the Bellevue West Thunderbirds on Saturday. Lincoln Southeast's hitters haven't had much luck over their past three matchups, but Saturday's contest will give them a chance to turn things around.
Lincoln Southeast fell victim to Grand Island and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Islanders, falling 11-0.

Lincoln Southeast got a good showing from Maverick Ambrose, who struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave Ambrose a new career-high.
At the plate, Lincoln Southeast saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Etherton, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That hit marked the first that Etherton got this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bellevue West). Everything went their way against Papillion-LaVista on Thursday as Bellevue West made off with an 18-6 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Cole Madden looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits.
On the hitting side, Cayden Muller was a standout: he scored five runs while going 4-for-4. Dane Sudduth was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
Bellevue West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Bellevue West pushed their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Lincoln Southeast, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
Lincoln Southeast skirted past Bellevue West 4-2 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will Lincoln Southeast repeat their success, or does Bellevue West has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
