Baseball Recap: DeForest Gets the Win

DeForest won the last time they faced Tomah and things went their way on Saturday too. The Norskies walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Timberwolves. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Norskies.

Cooper Goldschmidt looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

At the plate, Carter Meyers and Tru Killerlain did most of the damage at the plate: Meyers went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Killerlain went 1-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Killerlain has become a key player for DeForest: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-5 otherwise. Nolan Pennekamp was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

DeForest now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Tomah, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.

Looking ahead, DeForest will be playing in front of their home fans against Watertown at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last eight games the Goslings have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Tomah, they will head out to take on Viroqua at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
