Baseball Recap: Lakeside Starts Season with Win Against Harvey

Lakeside gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Harvey Red Raiders by a score of 8-3.

Anthony Wooten made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). Wooten was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Matt Wagner, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Gage Tome, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Harvey's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Lakeside will square off against Geneva at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Harvey, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Fuchs Mizrachi at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
